What moves the price

- SizeHeight, spread and the thickness of the trunk.
- What's under itA clear garden lets a tree be felled. A roof, a glasshouse, wires or a neighbour's wall mean dismantling in sections, which takes longer.
- AccessReached from the road or a side gate, or only carried through the house.
- The wood and branchesTaken away, chipped, or cut into rounds and left for you.
- How much comes offA light tidy, a reduction by a few metres, or a full crown lift.
- HeightWork that can be done from the ground or a ladder, or needs climbing.
- How many treesSeveral trees in one visit work out better than separate trips.
- The branchesTaken away, or chipped on site.
- Length and heightThe two biggest things. Pace it out and guess the height against a door (about 2 m).
- How hard it's cutA trim of this year's growth, or topping and cutting back years of it.
- The kind of hedgeLeylandii and laurel are heavier work than privet or beech.
- Both sidesWhether the far side can be reached, and from where.
- The cuttingsHow much there is and how it's taken away.
